TORTOISE DAY: SATURDAY MAY 10th 2008
This is the 7th annual Tortoise Day to be held in South Cheshire.
It is organised by the Cheshire group of the British Chelonia Group (BCG).
The BCG promotes the welfare and conservation of tortoises, terrapins and marine
turtles worldwide.
The 2008 event is again to be held at Woodford Community Centre, Chester Rd,
Woodford, Stockport, Cheshire SK7 1PS on the A5102 (near Woodford Garden
Centre). Ample free parking is available with wheelchair access to the
hall.
Time 10 am – 4 pm. Entrance fee £1.
The aim is to enable tortoise enthusiasts to meet and bring their tortoise, if
they wish, for help and advice. The displays include plant foods for
tortoises, crafts and gift stalls, bric a brac, plants, tombola and many
others. Refreshments are available. The special lunchtime lecture
will be given by veterinary guest speaker, Kevin Eatwell, BVSc (hons), DZoo Med
(Reptilian) MRCVS. The title is "Tortoises and Temperature" focusing on thermal
requirements of chelonia .
